Wits End

Released: 6th May 2013
Label: Navigator Records

‘Wits End’ is a combination of two EPs from London four piece Ahab. The EPs have been put together to create a debut album and it is clear that Ahab fit neatly into the British folk revival that we have been enjoying in recent years. The album consists of eleven songs that have been put together with a great deal of precision. The melodies are infectious, the harmonies are coated with sugar and the jingle jangle guitars are sure to provide the perfect soundtrack to a beautiful summer's evening.

Listening to the album an argument could be made that there is nothing particularly ground breaking. Yes that point is completely true, this is not an album that is going to push the boundaries or change the world but there are times when the world does not need to be changed, not all music has to be groundbreaking. Music is something that needs to bring pleasure to people's lives and Ahab are a band that will be sure to bring a great deal of pleasure to many.

If you are a fan of The Byrds, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Fleetwood Mac, Mumford and Sons and Jake Bugg then Ahab are a band that you will instantly fall in love with. In fact I don’t think there is any music fan out there who would fail to enjoy the beautiful songs that make up ‘Wits End’.
