Released: 2nd July 2012
Label: Bezoar

Brooklyn's Bezoar are a band that are truly saturated in sludge, with walls of sound built from pure metal.

The album kicks of with the misleading ‘Burn Everything’ which is an acoustic alt-folk number. This really is a red herring because as soon as the final note rings out a blizzard of guitar noise comes sweeping in on ‘Vitamin B’. It doesn't let up the intensity at all chugging away with fantastic fetes of musicianship that are equally stoner-metal and prog.

It quietens down a little with ‘Nikola’, which is a moment reminiscent of grunge legends Swans. The album also owes a debt to their fellow New Yorkers who were part of the no-wave movement with buzzsaw feedback and other artsy guitar techniques on display. Vocalist Sara Villard comes like the love child of Lynda Lunch and Patti Smith with the beauty and bile combining perfectly.

It really is a dense album which will barrage you with sound at every one of its twists and turns and will crush any casual lister, but if you can wade through it all you will be rewarded with a really well crafted album.
