Fionn Regan
The Bunkhouse Vol. 1: Anchor Black Tattoo

Released: 28th February 2013
Label: Universal Music

Listening to The Bunkhouse Vol. 1 serves as a perfect reminder that, at times, all music needs is an acoustic guitar and a beautiful voice. No matter how experimental and talented artists may be as they attempt to push boundaries, the sound of the acoustic guitar truly is hard to beat.

The Bunkhouse Vol. 1, sees Fionn armed with nothing but his acoustic guitar and unmistakable voice, as soon as you have pressed play on the album you will instantly realise that nothing more is needed. This is a remarkable album full of warmth and charm and, whilst listening, you will become oblivious to everything else that is going on in the world, your attention will be focussed on the delicate guitar playing and soothing vocals from start to finish, and nothing else will seem to matter.

No matter how hard I try, I simply can’t pick highlights from the album, this is one that you have to listen to from start to finish and enjoy as an entire piece of work. There is nothing complex about the album, yet that is what makes it so special, it is so intimate you will be forgiven for thinking that Fionn is in the room with you as you listen.

The fact that this album is entitled Vol. 1 clearly implies there will be another Vol. released, I will certainly be waiting for the next installment with a great deal of excitement.
