The Electric Stars

Based: Manchester
Genre: Psyc/Soul/Glam
Website: theelectricstars.com

The Electric Stars are an unsigned band from Manchester and are made up of Jason (Vocals), Andy (guitar), Keith (bass), Damian (guitar) and Johnny (drums). Throughout the history of music we have had bands who have been able to back up their confidence through their music (Oasis) and those who have not (Razorlight). So which category will The Electric Stars fall into?

After listening a good listen it is clear that The Electric Stars fall into the same category as their Manchester compatriots. The Electric Stars have been influenced by the timeless music of the 60’s and 70’s - The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Who, The Kinks and The Faces. Elements of all these bands can be heard throughout the music that The Electric Stars are creating.

One listen of ‘Between The Streets and The Stars’ was more than enough to convince me that this is a band that I need in my life. This is psychedelic pop genius that instantly draws the listener in. This is exactly what music is crying out for right now. ‘Isolation’ has a very Lennon-esque vocal delivery and goes someway to backing up the bands statement of creating ‘beautiful music for beautiful people’. ‘Isolation’ will take the listener through an emotional roller coaster “So what the hell went wrong, What am i supposed to do, I’m feeling so exposed to the naked truth”. ‘I Want You’ is a full of 60’s grooves, with guitar riffs that remind you of a certain Pete Townsend, handclaps, an infectious chorus, and a psychedelic ending that would make The Doors proud.

Beijing Bandits

Music that thankfully does not fit into any categories.
Cut Ribbons

The band that are most likely to achieve what Joy Formidable did in 2011.
