Shy and the Fight

Based: Chester
Genre: Alt/Folk
Website: Facebook

Shy And The Fight are an unsigned band from Chester who we have recently become aware of here at AMP. After one listen to their EP ‘How To Stop An Imploding Man’ which they self released last year my only regret is not coming across this collection of songs sooner.

The band list amongst their influences, Iron and Wine, Bob Dylan, Elliott Smith, Bright Eyes, Brian Wilson, Bon Ivor, Tunng, Benjamin Gibbard and Frank Turner. These influences are very evident throughout the EP.

The vocal style on title track ‘How To Stop An Imploding Man’ is very similar to Frank Turner. There is a lot of instrumentation on this EP, the way it is all arranged and put together makes this band stand out from the crowd. The songs are full of catchy melodies and sing a long moments. The stand out track on the EP for me is ‘Caution To The Wind’ which is a beautiful song that would not have been out of place on Bright Eyes ‘I’m Wide Awake Its Morning’.

I encourage each and every one of you to take time out of your day and listen to Shy And The Fight.
