The Sundowners

Based: Liverpool
Genre: Alt/Folk
Website: Facebook

The Sundowners are Niamh Rowe (Vocals/Rhythm guitar), Alfie Skelly (Lead Guitar), Fiona Skelly (Vocals/Rhythm Guitar), Tim Cunnihgham (Bass Guitar) and Jim Sharrack (Drums).

Coming from Liverpool, a city with a habit of giving birth to bands that create magical and beautiful music, The Sundowners are very much part of it’s new music scene which also includes the likes of The Sand Band, By The Sea and The Sixteen Tonnes.

The Sundowners list their influences as being Fleetwood Mac, Crosby Stills and Nash, The Byrds , Rolling Stones and Tom Petty. These influences are clear in the music that the band have made available. Listening to the three songs on their Soundcloud page it is clear this is a band that have a talent to create music that is a joy to listen to. These are songs that could have been recorded in any era of music and would have sounded fresh and exciting.

‘Gone Into The Sun’ is a perfect dreamy pop song that leaves you longing for a summers day sat outside watching the world drift by. ‘Hummingbird’ is the standout track of the three, this song will instantly get inside of your head and you will feel a real connection with the song. ‘No Going Back’ has a very 1960’s pop feel to it.

At the moment The Sundowners are an unsigned band, which leaves me baffled and questioning whether there is any justice in this crazy world.
