Laura J Martin, not to be confused with Laura Marling is first on stage. She takes to the stage with her flute, mandolin and loop machine. This is a live show, which is quite incredible and is something I recommend you all see if you can. This music could be categorised as traditional folk with a hint of modern electric sound, heavily influenced by Kate Bush. Laura is very captivating, quirky and has a unique talent. Laura warmed the audience up and made many people smile with a clever cover of Chaka Demus and Pliers’ Tease Me.

Jonny are a combination of two great song-writers; Norman Blake – Teenage Fanclub and Euros Childs – Gorkys Zygotic Mynci. A combination of musical minds like that simply can’t fail. Backed up with a live band consisting of Cardiffs’ own Sweet Baboo on base, Stuart Kidd on drums, and Laura also returned to the stage to help out. Jonny sound exactly like you would expect, a mix of the 1960’s psychedelia of Gorkys, and the perfect pop of Teenage Fanclub.

Euros took centre stage and led the band through the set comprising of most of their debut album. ‘Candyfloss’, ‘You Was Me’. ‘Wich is Wich’, ‘Circling The Sun’ being the standout tracks. Throughout the whole set the band looked like they were really enjoying themselves, plenty of onstage banter and even confusing over the setlist. The band finished with one song from Teenage Fanclub and one from Gorkys, and sent the audience out into the summer night sky with a very warm feeling inside.
