Wild Beasts

Venue: Coal Exchange, Cardiff
Date: 16th March 2012

Cardiff is alive, the throngs of French and Welsh supporters are already out in force ready for big clash the following day, but inside the beautiful Coal Exchange it is a completely different feeling.

The Coal Exchange was built in 1886 and its a building that has seen a lot of history, it’s a stunning venue especially for a band as delicate as Wild Beasts. When outside the world is going crazy inside is a hushed tender affair, it’s their first headlining slot in Cardiff and the crowd are happy to have them here. As the opening notes of Bed of Nails ring out around the venue everyone is transfixed, completely sucked into their world.

Playing only one song from their debut album ‘Limbo, Panto’ was a slight let down as it seems to not get the credit it deserves but it’s a belter in the form of ‘Devils Crayon’.

From first to last I'm captivated and all i wish as the set comes to a close is that they'll do it all over again.
