Gary Stewart
Year and a Day EP

Released: 25th June 2012
Label: Babaganoush Records

‘Year And A Day’ is the new EP from Scottish born Gary Stewart. If any of you have had the pleasure of seeing Ellen and The Escapades this year you will already be familiar with Gary, as he plays bass with the band. Gary has also supported Laura Marling, Noah and The Whale, Emma Pollock, Fionn Regan and James Yorkston.

‘Year And A Day’ is an EP that will instantly appeal to fans of the great singer/songwriters of the past but also sits comfortably alongside those artists responsible for the resurgence in folk music over the last couple of years.

‘Thorns’ opens the EP in a very peaceful way with soothing vocals and haunting guitar sounds that make you stop dead in your tracks. ‘Eve’ has a very fragile and honest sound to it. The gentle acoustic guitar combined with the tender vocals is a moment that you will want to share with as many people as possible. ‘Green’ sees the EP take a turn of pace with an upbeat joyful country feel. ‘Blue’ is a stunning track to end this EP, the sound is again haunting and beautiful at once, the chorus gives the EP a positive ending “I will be your setting sun, if you will be my break of dawn”.

Gary Stewart is clearly an artist of great talent, and I for one hope he continues to write and record music for a long time to come.
